HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Bill has been a lifelong resident of Brewer and is now a proud business owner serving his community. Fueled by passion and curiosity, Bill’s love of all things car related started in his teens. During high school, he participated in the Vocational Auto Body Program through United Technology Center (UTC) and later graduated from Brewer High School in 2002.
With his intense desire to learn everything about the automotive industry he decided that acquiring a formal education was the way route to go. He graduated from Northern Maine Technical College with an Associates degree in Applied Sciences, majoring in Automotive Collision Repair in 2004.
Post-graduation he began his professional career by working at fast paced production body shop, starting in parts and detail and quickly working his way up to a body technician. In addition, Bill has worked at a high-volume salvage yard and a Mom & Pop independently owned transmission shop. He then moved onto another successful shop where he was able to utilize both of his skill sets of both body and mechanical repairs. Always wanting to learn new innovative techniques, Bill completed a Dupont’s Refinishing program and was certified in Waterborne Refinishing Materials in 2014.
His dream has always been to someday open his own auto repair and body shop. To do that, he knew he needed to learn the back end of how everything worked administratively, to better serve his current and future customers. He moved into an estimating position to develop an understanding on how the insurance claim process works from beginning to end and everything in between.
Up until officially opening his own shop, Walker’s Garage. Bill has been working as a body technician, received his ASE and I-Car certification and received his State of Maine Inspection License.
Bill has worked and succeeded in a variety of roles and automotive settings, which has resulted in him obtaining a vast amount of knowledge in repairing all makes and models, foreign and domestic. Having over 20 years of experience, Walker’s Garage believes that we know what customers are looking for in an auto repair shop and we can offer that and more!
Bill and I ( Kaylin, his wife) were married in 2011, bought a house in 2012 and soon offer welcomed out two children Brynn (8) and Billy (6). We always knew opening a shop would happen, we just were not sure when and how. All while working his full-time job throughout the past 15 years, there have been many, many long nights and early mornings working on vehicles and building a loyal customer base. The support he has received from friends and family and word of mouth of the work he has done has brought him to the point where opening the doors of Walkers Garage is now a reality.
Owners/Operators of Walker’s Garage invite you to come see why we are your “go to” auto repair and body shop, serving the Bangor/Brewer area, surrounding towns and beyond!
When not working, Bill enjoys spending time with his family, cheering at Brynn and Billy’s sporting events, camping, playing disc golf, taking rides in the side by side, smoking meats on his pellet smoker and ice fishing in the winter!
